Active Medway Cycling Projects
The cycling project began in 2012, when the now lead in Medway came together with a number of other cyclists to create a dedicated of a group of local volunteers.
Over the years, it has grown into a friendly and supportive community, helping more people discover the many benefits of cycling.
The programme has always been strongly supported by the Health Improvement Coordinator's for Active Travel, who played a key role in encouraging wider participation.
While the number of led rides offered has naturally evolved into a smaller core of regular weekday cyclists, the project continues to adapt and grow.
Recently, we have started to create a focus on a welcoming and inclusive environment where anyone can get involved.
Whether you’re new to cycling, have a bike in the shed in need of some tlc, returning after some time away, looking for advice to get cycling or to meet others and get active, our project is here to help you get started, feel confident, and remove any barriers that are holding you back from riding your bike.
Our ethos is simple:
Encourage more people to choose cycling as part of everyday life
Support active travel and healthier lifestyles
Create opportunities for social connection through cycling
Help people build confidence and enjoy being outdoors
Cycling can be a simple, enjoyable way to improve your health, boost wellbeing, and get around more sustainably.
Our project is all about making that journey easier, and more enjoyable for everyone.
