About

The event is part of the 'My ride. Our right' mass glow rides night of action. Together, we’ll light up the night and call for safer streets and better cycling infrastructure for women riding after dark.

The Glow Ride is intended for women riders but we will, of course, welcome all supporters to cheer the riders along.

The Newbury Glow Ride is organised jointly by three local clubs: Newbury Road Club, Newbury Velo and West Berkshire Spokes. It will start in Newbury's Market Place with a briefing for participants at 18:30 and set off promptly at 19:00 with local ride guides. Refreshments will be available at the end. We ask all riders to pre-register, to help us provide sufficient marshals, guides, refreshments and other support. We have a provisional route of 9km / ~5.5 miles which takes two laps of the town centre.

How to take part

Ideally please register in advance, so we have an idea of numbers and can tell you of any changes. But you can also just turn up on the day.

What to bring

Make sure you've pre-registered all riders and be ready to sign a consent form for riders 14-17 years. Come with your bike, of course, which must be roadworthy. A helmet is mandatory as are front and rear lights. Suitable clothing for the weather on the night and any additional lights or embellishments on your bike to really put on a show. Please note that there will be photos and video taken during the event which may be used on club websites and social media.
